UPDATE: Per tradition, The 2024 ESPYS will also showcase the achievements of inspiring and courageous athletes who embody the spirit of The ESPYS through three pillar awards – the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage Award, the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance Award, and The Pat Tillman Award for Service. The honorees for each of these awards have now been announced. The ESPYS will honor Steve Gleason with the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage, Dawn Staley will receive the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance, and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex will receive the Pat Tillman Award for Service.
The 2024 ESPYS presented by Capital One were announced earlier this week on June 26th with the show set to air live on Thursday, July 11 at 8 pm ET/PT on ABC, hosted by Serena Williams. The star-studded ceremony will relive the highlight moments of the year, honor leading athletes and performances, and bring together the sports industry’s fan favorites and biggest stars. The ESPY's top nominees include Simone Biles, Caitlin Clark, Jaylen Brown, Coco Gauff, Patrick Mahomes, and Shohei Ohtani, with WNBA player Caitlin Clark having the most nominations. Sports stars Patrick Mahomes and Shohei Ohtani seek their second win for "Best Athlete, Men's Sports" hoping to join LeBron James, Lance Armstrong, and Tiger Woods as the only athletes to win the category multiple times. Some other highlights include Haleigh Bryant, Coco Gauff, C.J. Stroud, Juju Watkins, and Victor Wembanyama being first-time nominees.
