Last Thursday at the iconic Troubadour in West Hollywood Sirius XM's The Coffee House Tour made a stop in Los Angeles. The tour is Sirius XM's Coffee House station in a live format. It features three of its biggest artists from the station Matt Hartke, JD & The Straight Shot, and Matt Costa. If you listen to the station or were there like I was you would know these bands are loved by Sirius XM also its many listeners.

The night began with Matt Hartke a pop-leaning singer-songwriter who has written with some of today's biggest Pop stars such as The Chainsmokers and the late Avicii. Matt took to the stage with just guitar playing through what was a relatively short set but an impactful one. Matt relied on clean clear storytelling and strong vocals to carry across what was an overall good set. After a short break and a fairly quick stage change, JD & The Straight Shot came out. The band which is Jim Dolan, Marc Copely, Byron House, Erin Slaver, Shawn Pelton, and Carolyn Dawn Johnson describes themselves simply as folk-rock. The band has a lot of heavy hitters in music and songwriting. JD & The Straight Shot is a fun and rollicking band live bringing to the stage the experience from years of talent, touring, and musicianship. I found that violinist Erin Slaver is particularly enchanting. The night closed with Southern Californian musician Matt Costa and his band. Of all the artists playing that night, he fit the typical mold of the coffee house style of music. His music was mostly piano-based but instrumentation such as harmonica, guitars, drums, and even the tambourine were often front and center. Matts track Mr. Pitiful stuck out the most to me for its jaunty melodies and just all-around great storytelling. The night ended with Matt and his band coming back for an encore. Until then,
